Mataking Island, located in the Celebes Sea in southern Sabah, Malaysia, is one of the most popular islands in the town of Semporna. The Reef Dive Resort Mataking is nestled on this private tropical island, exclusively catering to in-house guests, ensuring a peaceful and private stay amidst nature’s embrace.
Mataking Island consists of two parts, Mataking Besar (the larger) and Mataking Kecil (the smaller), spanning a total area of just 40 acres. During low tide, a sand bridge surfaces, connecting the two islands that are 500 meters apart, forming a charming white sand pathway for an extraordinary walk on the water.
Indulge in unlimited snorkeling in the crystal-clear sea, surrounded by tropical fish and the captivating underwater world. You can enjoy relaxing swings over the sea, adding to your family fun. The island’s underwater post office is a unique attraction for diving enthusiasts worldwide. Divers deposit their sealed letters in the underwater mailboxes, which the staff collect regularly. You’ll soon receive a letter from the sea, a memorable souvenir of your adventure!
Mataking is recognized as a national turtle sanctuary. Every year from April to September, turtles make their way ashore to lay their eggs. The staff carefully relocate these eggs to a hatchery for protection. After several weeks, the baby turtles hatch and are guided back to the sea.

- Rates are based on a Twin/Triple/Quad basis and are for SIC (sit-in coach) bookings
- Child rates are determined by the YEAR OF BIRTH and require the child to share a room with 2 adults
- Rates are subject to change without prior notice, at the government’s discretion (if applicable)
- Shuttle bus schedule: 10:30 am and 2:00 pm
- Island entry schedule: 9:30 am (for guests staying in Tawau/Semporna the night before), 10:30 am, and 3:30 pm (recommended for flights arriving before 10:30 am)
- Boat Departure Schedule: 11:00 am and 2:00 pm (recommended for flight departing after 6:00 pm)
- Additional fees will apply for boat or road transfers outside of the scheduled time
- Included meals provided by the resort will be served à la carte (buffet style subject to occupancy); unlimited light refreshments, tea, and water will be available

The package price is inclusive of scheduled return land and boat transfers, accommodation, full board meals and diving (for divers)/snorkelling (for non-divers).
Excludes:-
*Diving/snorkelling equipment (full set dive gear MYR 91.80/person/day, full set snorkelling gear MYR 27/person/day)
*Tourism tax of MYR 10/room/night
Scheduled Boat transfer:-
Arrival:- 9.30am, 12.30pm and 3.30pm (arrival flight must not be later than 1330hrs)
Departure:- 11am and 2pm (departure flight must be after 1400hrs)
Private land and boat transfer – MYR 1177/way
Above price are based on per person per number of stay (with minimum 2/3 pax per unit – twin/double/triple). For single occupancy, there is an additional surcharge of 30% on top of the quoted rates.
Child aged 2 years old and below are entited for free of charge package (must pay Semporna Jetty fee). Children aged 3 – 12 years old are entitled for 50% discount from non-diving package (must occupy same room with parents).
Group policy: – for every 10 paying guests, 1 additional pax are eligible for free of charge package (need to pay for Sipadan permit fee, jetty fee and tourism tax).
Note: If you are interested to dive Sipadan, please let us in advance as availability of permits is limited.But only certified divers with minimum PADI Advance Open water Diver level or its equivalent can dive at Sipadan.
Price for the Sipadan trip would be based on the number of guests during the particular trip (to pay boat fee + Permit fee) (subject to 8% SST):
